Hey
there everyone.. December 23rd 2007 marked a very sad day in Jazz history,
with the passing of Jazz Pianist Oscar Peterson.
OP, the most famous Jazz Pianist ever, and until his death, the most famous jazz musician still alive,
was my lifelong role model, inspiration, admiration and aspiration. He was the first pianist I ever
listened to, and was the reason I began Jazz Piano. I was fortunate enough to meet him and spend time
with him on several occasions over the last few years. Oscar was very kind to me - he sent me gifts, included
me as his special guest at his Bluenote concerts, invited me backstage after his concert in Switzerland,
talked to me on the phone whilst resting sick in bed, emailed me often, and spent many an hour
talking music, piano and life... I cannot express enough to him, or his wife Kelly my gratitude, for meeting
such an amazing person and family and everything they've done.
Thank you Oscar. Your spirit and music will live on forever... MB
